External Reporting Accountant

Your role is to work as part of the External Reporting team, responsible for the preparation of compliant, timely and insightful external financial reporting for the UK&I. You will be responsible for ensuring that reporting is compliant with Intact accounting policies and with relevant accounting standards and regulations, as appropriate.

  • Preparing compliant and timely regulatory reporting, focusing on the balance sheet. 

  • This will include applying Solvency adjustments to the IFRS balance sheet, explaining movements in the SUK/SII balance sheet and preparing slides for the Audit Committee and CFO. 

  • Owning the production of certain annual regulatory returns, including the SFCR and RSR for Europe. 

  • Liaising with Stakeholders across the business to ensure that their sections are updated as required, to tight deadlines. 

  • Supporting the preparation of analytical reviews for IFRS and Solvency UK/Solvency II reporting. 

  • Ensuring that controls are operated to maintain a strong controls framework. 

  • Being involved in finance transformation projects, generating ideas for improvements and being a key point of contact for UAT testing. 

  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration across reporting activities.

  • You will be a qualified accountant with relevant post‑qualification experience and ideally in insurance or the wider financial services. 

  • Ability to interpret IFRS and regulatory reporting requirements, ideally for insurance companies, at both legal entity and group level. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability and experience in interpreting, investigating, and challenging complex and varied data sources to develop compliant reporting approaches. 

  • Experience and adaptability to work across multiple finance systems. 

  • You will be highly organised with effective stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
