We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Surety Underwriter to join our newly formed Surety Underwriting Team on a hybrid basis. 

Intact Insurance is one of the largest Surety Underwriters in Canada and following the rebrand from RSA to Intact Insurance we are looking to establish ourselves as a major player in the Surety Underwriting market in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us at the start of this journey and be a part of setting out the strategy and plans moving forward. 

You will work closely with the Surety Underwriting Director, building a profitable book of business, working initially with a select panel of brokers before growing this to the wider broker market. 

You’ll make an impact by: 

As the Senior Surety Underwriter you will build, maintain and develop relationships with selected brokers to optimise profitable growth. The focus is to move the relationship with brokers from a trusted relationship to a trading partnership and secure profitable new business in line with strategy and within agreed processes. 

Key Accountabilities: 

• Review specialist Surety cases and deliver underwriting decisions within agreed timeframes in order to secure profitable business 

• Actively work with the Surety Director to build a portfolio of business with selected brokers Identify, prioritise, negotiate and win new business 

• Work closely with the Surety Director on the strategic vision for this line of business 

Your skills and experience: 

To be successful in this role of Senior Surety Underwriter you will need: 

• Extensive experience within the Surety line of business, preferably from an underwriting perspective but a broking background may be considered 

• The ability to build trusted relationships with partner brokers to ensure growth of the account 

• Excellent trading underwriting and negotiation skills
