Summer Internship - Insurance Sales

NFU Mutual

Salary From:

£24,037.00

8 Weeks

Stratford Upon Avon

A paid, full-time 8-week summer internship working with a trusted, people-focused UK insurer Spend your summer working on real commercial projects that play a direct part in shaping our future growth.

Location: South East region across multiple offices

Start date: 15th June 2026

Entry Requirements: Ideally in your penultimate year of undergraduate study and on track for a minimum 2:1 honours degree (any discipline welcome)

Salary: £24,037 pro rata

At NFU Mutual, our roots are firmly in farming, and we’re proud to stay true to those origins. But we’re also a business that’s growing fast in other areas – particularly commercial and high net worth – and that’s where our Sales team plays such an important role. Join our South East Regional Team, the largest and most commercially driven region at NFU Mutual.

You’ll gain hands-on experience building relationships with our local Agencies to grow their businesses and support NFU Mutual’s ambitious commercial growth strategy. As an intern, you’ll play a hands‑on role in supporting key growth and insight activities across the team. You’ll work with real business data to help assess market potential, identify opportunities, and contribute to informed decision‑making. From mapping out market landscapes to supporting prospecting activity, you’ll gain experience in analysing trends and turning insight into action. You’ll also help shape engagement activity by coordinating and managing an incentive campaign, giving you exposure to campaign planning, delivery, and measurement.

Throughout the internship, you’ll build a strong understanding of our agency network and how our business operates, giving you valuable commercial insight and a solid foundation for future career development.

You don’t need previous sales experience to apply. What we do ask for is some previous customer facing work experience where you’ve had the opportunity to interact with people. You’ll need to be on track for at least a 2:1 degree, but your subject isn’t what matters most — we’re looking for people who bring curiosity, a willingness to learn and the confidence to engage with people across different teams. You’ll be comfortable speaking to a variety of people over the phone, open to feedback and ready to take initiative when you spot something that could be improved.

We’re particularly looking for:

  • Strong communication skills – because you’ll be working with different teams and stakeholders, explaining complex ideas clearly and contributing to discussions.

  • Self-management and initiative- with the confidence to drive things forward and challenge thinking

  • Commercial thinking – you’ll need to understand how business decisions connect with business growth and customer outcomes.

  • Motivation and being proactive - You bring enthusiasm and commitment to achieving high‑quality outcomes, staying motivated and focused even when working independently.

  • Relationship building and interpersonal skills - You build strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, creating open communication channels that support effective collaboration.

  • Digital literacy and a learning mindset – confidence using tools such as Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, combined with curiosity and a genuine desire to develop your knowledge throughout the programme.

  • If you’re motivated, thoughtful and ready to challenge yourself in a professional environment where your contribution genuinely matters, we’d love to hear from you.
