New Appointment - Welcoming Dr Emma Mahoney to the GAIN Board

We're pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Emma Mahoney to the GAIN Board. Dr Mahoney is one of a number of appointments bringing fresh expertise to help shape the next phase of GAIN’s development. These new appointments will accelerate our mission to radically improve employment prospects for neurodivergent individuals.

As a consultant clinical psychologist with over 25 years’ experience, Dr Mahoney has worked with neurodivergent adults, young people, and families across the NHS, private sector, schools, and business settings. She is also the founder of The Advisory ND, a consultancy focused on helping organisations understand, attract, and support neurodivergent talent through leadership development, training, and specialist coaching.

Emma’s expertise and insight into workplace wellbeing, psychological safety, and inclusive design have already made a meaningful impact across sectors such as fintech, finance, and the creative industries. Her deep clinical understanding, combined with hands-on experience, brings a unique and valuable perspective to GAIN. Her ability to translate psychological insight into practical strategies will strengthen our work in shaping neuroinclusive workplaces, supporting its members, and influencing industry-wide approaches to neurodiversity.

Emma Mahoney shares, “From fintech to creative industries, the same themes emerge: people want to feel understood, valued, and safe to be themselves at work. True neuroinclusion isn’t just about awareness, it’s about designing environments where all kinds of minds can thrive. I’m excited to bring this perspective to GAIN and to help neurodivergent individuals, and the businesses they work for thrive within insurance and investment.”

“Emma’s appointment reflects GAIN’s deepening commitment to grounding our work in research, data, and lived experience to drive lasting, systemic change,” said Barbara Schonhofer, GAIN Co-Founder. “Her rare combination of clinical expertise and real-world business insight gives her a powerful lens on what true neuroinclusion looks like in practice. Emma’s ongoing work with organisations ensures she stays closely attuned to the evolving challenges and opportunities in this space, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Board at such a pivotal time for GAIN’s growth and impact.”
